Microguide Lightbar
Farm Data Software is proud to once again lead the industry with the first ever Bluetooth (wireless) lightbar! This revolutionary product known as "MicroGuide" works in conjunction with Farm Data' Guide Mate software and virtually any hardware device with Bluetooth capabilities, such as an iPAQ Pocket PC. MicroGuide is a small, low-cost, easy to follow lightbar that includes a power supply and rugged suction mount.
Five Easy Steps in Using MicroGuide:
- Install the Guide Mate/Site Mate software to any handheld device or laptop with Bluetooth capabilities (see partial list of supported devices below). Guide Mate/Site Mate provide guidance and field mapping with an easy to follow "steering needle".
- Mount the MicroGuide lightbar with the included suction mount to the inside of your windshield. The lightbar can be mounted on any surface (flat recommended). If possible, please try and mount the MicroGuide lightbar in your line of sight on the windshield.
- Supply 12V power to the MicroGuide.
- Mount your Pocket PC or laptop device with Bluetooth capabilities wherever you want in the cab. The only requirement is that it be within roughly a 30-foot distance from MicroGuide (most but not all Bluetooth devices have a range of 30 feet). Now you have the advantage of keeping your Pocket PC closer to you for viewing coverage maps, crop records, or variable rate.
- Enable the "MicroGuide" function in the configuration area of Guide Mate/Site Mate. When you start using Guide Mate/Site Mate on your computer, it will automatically communicate with MicroGuide so that all guidance information will be displayed wireless.
Guide Mate and Site Mate install to any Pocket PC, Windows CE, or laptop computer running Windows 98 or higher. As the steering needle on the Pocket PC screen veers off and the lights turn on, so do the lights on MicroGuide. With Bluetooth technology, MicroGuide offers another set of lights for visibility. Having more guidance can only improve your productivity in the field. Just attach the suction cup to the windshield and provide power to MicroGuide -- it is that simple!
According to Brian Stark, Sales & Marketing Manager of CTN Data Services Inc., "Most conventional lightbars designed today can be pretty large and difficult to mount in your line of sight. Also, most lightbars are challenging to move from vehicle to vehicle because cables are permanently mounted. Owners of these lightbars end up paying more money for an extra set of cables for another tractor or sprayer. MicroGuide eliminates the cable problem and reduces fatigue and user error.

Guide Mate
The Guidance, or Guide Mate, module of Site Mate adds an on-screen light-bar to Farm Site Mate Basic. Guide Mate is the first product to provide an affordable guidance solution that works on industry standard Pocket PCs.
Guide Mate was developed by Raven Industries based on years of experience in the GPS guidance market. Guide Mate provides an easy-to-follow, on-screen light-bar and steering needle.
Guide Mate is fully integrated with Site Mate Basic so users can quickly flip between the light-bar display of Guide Mate and a coverage map generated with Site Mate.
