Farm Pro
Are you knee deep in precision ag maps that are too valuable to ignore, yet too complicated to understand? What do you do with this information? Farm Data has once again responded to your demand with the release of Pro. The new office program provides critical analysis tools for multi-year yield averaging (also known as normalising), profit/loss mapping, and the ability to use formulas in creating prescription maps for variable rate application. The best tools for making the right decision.
Farm Pro Features:
Normalised Yield Data - Normalising yield allows you to average multiple years to find consistently high and low yielding areas.
- Normalisation will average any number of yield maps together. This includes averaging yields from different crops (with different values). The process then uses values based on a 100 point scale where the average yield for a field will be 100 and yields that are below average are below 100 and above average yields are above 100.
- The resulting normalised yield map will be a gridded, polygon/area map. When creating the map, you have the option of selecting the size of the grid to be used.
- Users can control the Search Radius and number of Neighbors used in the calculation.
- Normalisation can be done for any group of fields. Select a single field or select all fields under a farm or select all of your fields and Pro will create Normalised Yield Maps for each field.
- Create any number of Normalised Yield Maps based on crop or year. Examples would be to create normalized yield maps based on Corn Yields, another based on Soybean Yields and yet another that is based on all crops in a field.
- Includes the flexibility to include or exclude any yield map from any calculation. If you have a year that’s out of the ordinary (maybe a very dry or overly wet year) that you want to exclude from the normalisation, you can choose to exclude it.
Enterprise Summary/Profit Map – Pro includes Enterprise Summary maps (also known as a “Profit Map”) for any field crop enterprise.
- These maps are automatically created for every field and enterprise that you have set up in Data Trac. No user interface required.
- Whenever data is updated (such as when a new farming job or accounting record is recorded), the Enterprise Summary will automatically be updated.
- The Enterprise Summary Map can be used to show a map of:
- Fixed Expenses – The average cost per acre of all farming jobs or allocated expenses that were performed equally over the field.
- Variable Expenses – The average cost per acre of all farming jobs that were conducted variably over a field. Each grid square will reflect the total variable expenses for that part of the field. Examples of Variable Expenses include the variable application of fertiliser, seed and other inputs. Additionally, any job that was only performed to part of a field (such as tillage performed on end rows) will result in Variable Expenses. Also fields that were planted with different varieties (with different costs) will result in Variable Expenses.
- Income – The average income per acre for crop sales. If the field has a yield map, the program will use the values from the yield map combined with a crop value to create the Income Map.
- Profit – This map will take the Income Map less the Variable and Fixed Expenses to come up with a Profit Map that shows the profit in each part of the field.
- When the Pro module is used with Farm Funds, all of the costs will be based off actual costs that have been recorded in your cheque register. As an example, the program will use the average cost that seed, chemicals and fertiliser are purchased at. For equipment, the program will use costs such as repairs, maintenance and depreciation. Employee costs will be based on payroll. Crop Revenues will be based on the price that the crop is actually sold for. Unsold crops will be valued at a price that you can enter and will be updated as the crop is actually sold.
- When the Pro module is used with Data Trac and Site, the program will use the costs that were manually assigned to each supply, piece of equipment and person. Additionally, it will use the value assigned to each crop. These costs can be changed for individual jobs as needed.
Advanced Prescription Generation – The Pro module will give users the ability to create VRA Prescription maps utilising formulas. The program will come preloaded with some standard formulas and will give users the ability to modify the formulas as needed. Formulas will be able to utilise map data on different map layers. This can include using soil test results from a grid or management soil sampling map along with yield data (for crop removal) from a yield map.
More Features to Come – By subscribing to an Update Service Plan you are guaranteed to receive all updates to all Farm Data modules for the next year. The development team is continuing to listen to users and will continue to add features to the Pro module based off feedback.
